Job summary

Rother District Council is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join our in-house Estates Maintenance Team in a varied plumbing and building maintenance role across district properties. The post covers planned, preventative and reactive tasks with plumbing as the primary trade and additional building works.

You will work across offices, public facilities and other assets, with out-of-hours cover and a strong emphasis on safety, quality workmanship, and customer service for residents and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Proven plumbing maintenance and repair experience.
• Experience with water systems, sanitaryware, pipework and drainage.
• Practical experience across general building trades.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair plumbing faults.
• Repair and maintain hot and cold water systems.
• Install/replace pipework, sanitaryware and fittings.
• Leak detection and remedial works.
• Drainage and waste systems maintenance.
• Support water hygiene and Legionella control.
• Read plumbing drawings and specs.
• General building repairs and maintenance.
• Minor civil works and groundwork.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and out-of-hours cover.
