Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting an NHS-focused Plumber for Manchester Foundation NHS Trust. You will maintain water systems, manage repairs, and support infection control through compliant sanitation and mechanical upkeep.

You will work with clinical teams and external contractors to ensure safe, reliable plumbing services in a fast-paced hospital environment, contributing to high-quality care and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 required and NHS/healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills.
  • L8 Legionella control knowledge is expected.
  • CAFM systems experience (Planet/Concerto) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive plumbing maintenance, including installation, reactive repairs, and planned preventative maintenance of water systems and sanitary fixtures.
  • Handle complex mechanical services: hot/cold water, heating systems, pumps, compressors, and calorifiers.
  • Interpret drawings, install, commission, and test plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Follow health and safety regulations and safe systems of work in live healthcare environments.
  • Participate in emergency response and on-call duties outside normal hours.
  • Diagnose faults and repair complex plant, including Legionella control and water safety systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external agencies for compliant maintenance.

What You'll Do:
  • Comprehensive plumbing maintenance and repair expertise, including installation, reactive repairs, and planned preventative maintenance of water systems, pipework, sanitary fixtures, and associated equipment
  • Experience with complex mechanical services, such as hot and cold water systems, heating systems, pumps, compressors, and calorifiers, ensuring compliance with safety and water quality standards
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and carry out installation, commissioning, and testing of plumbing and mechanical systems accurately
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including safe systems of work, permits, and hazard management when working in live healthcare environments
  • Participation in emergency response and out of hours oncall duties, providing rapid and effective repairs in urgent and potentially hazardous situations
  • Proficiency in fault diagnosis and repairs on complex plant and equipment, including water safety systems, Legionella control, and mechanical plant
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external agencies to ensure efficient and compliant maintenance operations
What You Bring:
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification required
  • Experience in NHS and Healthcare Environment.
  • Strong Problem Solving and Communication Skills
  • Ability to identify problems, understand key issues and investigate alternatives.
  • L8 Control of Legionella

  • Salary hourly rate including RRP is £18.19 per hour that equates to £35,572.88 per annum
  • 1.5x rate (not guaranteed) optional overtime
