Job summary

Sodexo Group is seeking a plumber to maintain comprehensive plumbing services across Manchester Foundation NHS Trust facilities, based at Oxford Road. You will support wards, clinical spaces and support areas, ensuring reliable water, sanitation and mechanical services with care and professionalism.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent required.
• Experience in NHS/Healthcare environment is desirable.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Plumbing maintenance: installation, reactive and preventative work on water systems and fixtures.
• Maintain complex mechanical services: hot/cold water, heating, pumps and calorifiers.
• Read drawings, install, commission and test plumbing systems.
• Follow health and safety regs, permits, hazard control in live healthcare sites.
• Respond to emergencies and out-of-hours calls with rapid repairs.
• Diagnose faults on plant, water safety systems, Legionella control.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and external agencies.

• 37.5 Hours per week
• Salary hourly rate including RRP is £18.19 per hour that equates to £35,572.88 per annum

What You'll Do:

• Comprehensive plumbing maintenance and repair expertise, including installation, reactive repairs, and planned preventative maintenance of water systems, pipework, sanitary fixtures, and associated equipment
• Experience with complex mechanical services, such as hot and cold water systems, heating systems, pumps, compressors, and calorifiers, ensuring compliance with safety and water quality standards
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and carry out installation, commissioning, and testing of plumbing and mechanical systems accurately
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including safe systems of work, permits, and hazard management when working in live healthcare environments
• Participation in emergency response and out of hours oncall duties, providing rapid and effective repairs in urgent and potentially hazardous situations
• Proficiency in fault diagnosis and repairs on complex plant and equipment, including water safety systems, Legionella control, and mechanical plant
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and external agencies to ensure efficient and compliant maintenance operations

What You Bring:
