Job summary

Construction in Barking is seeking an experienced Plumber / Multi-Trade Operative to join a busy repairs and maintenance team across Barking and the surrounding areas.

You will utilise your plumbing expertise while supporting a range of trades, delivering high-quality repairs in occupied homes, prioritising first-time-fix and customer satisfaction. The role involves risk assessments and safety compliance, with mobile job updates and teamwork at its core.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing or City & Guilds Plumbing qualification (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence and own tool kit.
• Experience across multiple trades including tiling, carpentry, plastering and decorating.
• Experience in social housing repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of plumbing repairs and installations in occupied homes.
• Support multi-trade works such as tiling, carpentry, plastering and decorating.
• Maintain safe working practices and complete risk assessments.
• Record job details using mobile technology and deliver first-time-fix solutions.
• Provide excellent customer service and work with the team to ensure smooth service delivery.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Plumber / Multi-Trade Operative to join a busy repairs and maintenance team working across Barking and the surrounding areas. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled tradesperson who takes pride in delivering high-quality repairs and excellent customer service within occupied residential properties.

You'll use your plumbing expertise while supporting a range of multi-trade maintenance tasks, helping to keep homes safe, comfortable and well maintained. Working with modern digital systems, you'll play a key role in delivering efficient, first-time-fix solutions for residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of plumbing repairs and installations, including:
• Leak detection and repair
• Hot and cold water systems
• Immersion heaters and tanks
• Bathroom and kitchen installations
• Complete multi-trade works including:
• Wall and floor tiling
• 1st and 2nd fix carpentry
• Patch plastering and making good
• Painting and decorating
• Accurately record job details and updates using mobile technology
• Work closely with supervisors, planners and support teams to ensure smooth service delivery
• Conduct risk assessments and follow health and safety procedures at all times
• Deliver excellent customer service when working in occupied homes
• Participate in out-of-hours and emergency call-out rota when required
• Support apprentices and contribute to a positive team environment

Essential Requirements

• NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Plumbing qualification (or equivalent)
• Valid Unvented Hot Water Systems Certificate
• Experience across multiple trades, including tiling, carpentry, plastering and decorating
• Ability to safely isolate and test electrical components
• Full UK driving licence
• Own well-maintained tool kit
• Experience within social housing repairs and maintenance
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations
• Excellent attention to detail and customer-focused approach
