Job summary

Artic Building Services seeks a plumber/mechanical engineer for a permanent, day-shift role on an UCL contract in London. Hours are 08:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, with plumbing duties and assistance to fabric engineers on site.

Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ commercial plumbing experience (hospitals, schools, universities or offices) and a solid grasp of health and safety obligations. IPAF is desirable but not essential; you must have the right to work in the UK and be able to

• 3+ years of commercial plumbing experience in large sites.
• Proven health and safety compliance in maintenance activities.
• NVQ/C&G trade training proof.
• IPAF 3a/3b ideal but not essential.
• Right to work in the UK; documentation required.

Day to day responsibilities

• Plumbing duties and assisting fabric engineers


• Keeping records of stock


• Survey jobs and notify your supervisor of materials required.


• Keeping a PDA up to date

Knowledge

Must have a sound knowledge of all aspects of plumbing and mechanical plant

Experience

• A minimum of 3 years commercial Plumbing experience, such as hospitals, schools, residential buildings, university’s, offices.


• Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations regarding maintenance activities.

Qualifications

• You must have a proven track record within the industry with a good steady work record.


• Proof of any trade training/course’s (NVQ/C&G)


• IPAF 3a/3b ticket (ideal but not essential)

Education

A good basic education is essential, with good written and spoken English.

• A team player, able to work with the team and client’s representatives at all levels.


• Must be willing to provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice and be flexible in their working patterns.


• Must be able to pass an enhanced DBS check.


• Must have the right to work in the UK and provide documentation.

Health and Safety

• Always follow Artic company policies and procedures.


• Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.


• Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.


• Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system.


• As a member of the team, you will be required to fulfil our legal duty to take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others who may be affected by your actions, and to follow all guidance and instructions given in this respect.
