Job summary

Equans UK & Ireland is seeking a practical and reliable Plumber to join the Lewisham Schools contract on site at Prendergast Ladywell School. This full-time role involves 40 hours per week with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

You will maintain and repair plumbing and related building services, ensuring a safe, hygienic and fully operational school environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

Qualifications

• Hold at least Level 2 certification in plumbing.
• May be partially qualified with Level 3 progressing.
• DBS check may be required for this site.
• Proven experience in plumbing maintenance, installation and fault finding.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures.
• Read blueprints and diagrams to determine installation requirements.
• Inspect systems for leaks and faults; test for safe operation.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and plan/react to events.
• Use CAFM system to update tasks and maintain records
• Collaborate with contractors and school premises teams to ensure safety and compliance.

Job description

Equans is looking for a Plumber to join our team on the Lewisham Schools contract based onsite at Prendergast Ladywell School. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and in addition you will receive an excellent benefits package. Working Hours will be 8 hours in between 6am and 6pm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and reliable operation, maintenance and repair of plumbing and associated building services systems. You will help ensure that the school environment remains safe, hygienic and fully operational for pupils, staff and visitors.

This is a customer-facing role requiring a professional approach, strong communication skills and the ability to respond effectively to planned and reactive maintenance requirements.

What will you deliver?

• Install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures and other plumbing systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and diagrams to determine installation requirements.
• Inspect plumbing systems for leaks, faults and other issues.
• Test systems to confirm safe and effective operation.
• Respond promptly to emergency plumbing call-outs and helpdesk events.
• Complete reactive and planned tasks within the required timescales.
• Use mobile PDAs and the CAFM system to receive, update and close tasks accurately.
• Maintain clear and accurate records of work completed and materials used.
• Work collaboratively with contractors, electricians, premises teams and other service partners.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable plumbing regulations, health and safety requirements and company procedures.
• Liaise professionally with end users to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Assist with the set-up of scheduled room layouts and equipment when required.
• Move furniture, equipment and goods around the site safely, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure the timely clearance and resetting of meeting rooms.
• Assist with ad hoc duties and communicate issues raised by building users to the on-site teams.
• Maintain a professional and polite image when dealing with customers, clients, colleagues and service partners.
• Adhere to EQUANS Health & Safety policies, management plans and procedures.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the level and nature of the role, as reasonably required.

Who are we looking for?

You will be a practical and reliable maintenance professional with a strong plumbing background and the ability to work independently.

You should have:

• Hold least Level 2 certification to demonstrate theoretical and practical competence in a relevant plumbing trade.
• May also be a part qualified occupation or working towards level 3 theoretical and practical competencies
• Required to undertake and continue training for AP/CP roles for high-risk disciplines
• Proven experience in plumbing maintenance, installation and fault finding.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• The ability to work effectively with contractors, colleagues and client representatives.
• A professional, courteous and flexible approach.
• A clean, full UK driving licence.
• Due to the nature of the contract, the successful post holder will be required to go through an Enhanced DBS check.
