Job summary

ETS Consulting Ltd is seeking a Software Engineer - PLC Programmer for a leading Bromborough-based manufacturer. You will develop, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for packaging equipment, with remote and on-site support across the UK & Ireland.

You will travel 40-50% to customer sites, collaborate with cross-functional teams, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards while driving continuous improvement in automated processes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in PLC programming and commissioning.
• Extensive knowledge of Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Fuji, Lenze.
• Travel across the UK & Ireland (40-50%) for commissioning and support.
• Experience in packaging or process automation is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and commission PLC and HMI software for processing and packaging equipment.
• Establish and manage a remote support system for engineers and customers.
• Provide remote and on-site support - diagnosing faults, guiding repairs, and implementing software updates.
• Travel to UK & Ireland sites for commissioning and support (40-50%).
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and project teams on complete automation solutions.
