Job summary

North Northamptonshire Council is seeking a dedicated Workshop and Play Inspector to join our Grounds Services team. You will inspect, maintain and improve play areas and environmental assets across the council's estate, delivering safe outdoor spaces for residents and visitors.

Role requires PA1/PA6, RPII Routine Inspector Level and at least two years’ hands-on experience with play equipment repairs and grounds equipment maintenance; full UK driving licence and robust English communication are

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths as minimum entry.
  • PA1 and PA6 inspector qualifications required.
  • RPII Routine Inspector Level preferred.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with play equipment repairs and inspections.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in maintenance of Grounds Services equipment.
  • Good spoken and written English essential.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain play parks and open spaces to keep assets safe and presentable.
  • Carry out regular safety inspections of play equipment and maintain records.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions delivering maintenance and inspection services.
  • Perform routine checks and basic maintenance of tools, machinery and equipment.
  • Complete vehicle inspections per Fleet requirements and report defects.
  • Assist with servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance of play equipment.
  • Provide workshop support to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
  • Ensure play areas are free from litter, glass and hazards before maintenance.
  • Support service improvements to enhance safety and quality of assets.
  • Contribute to achieving high standards across parks and open spaces.
