Job summary

Hawes Down Primary School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic Play Worker to join our wraparound care team. You will support the delivery of high-quality breakfast and after-school provision for children aged 4-11, creating a safe, fun and engaging environment for children.

The role operates Monday to Friday during term-time (38 weeks per year), with breakfast sessions 7.15-8.45am and after-school sessions 2.45-6.00pm.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in school/childcare settings is desirable.
  • A positive, energetic, and patient approach is essential.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills are required.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
  • Ability to engage children in creative and active play.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and engage children in a range of play activities (indoor and outdoor)
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment
  • Support children's social, emotional, and physical development through play
  • Serve light meals/refreshments prepared by our catering team in line with food hygiene standards
  • Maintain a clean and organised play space
  • Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies at all times
  • Work positively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues and parents

  • Salary at scale BR4 point 13 (FTE £25,703 - £13.69 per hour)
  • Breakfast sessions 7.15-8.45am, After school sessions 2.45-6.00pm
  • Monday-Friday, 38 weeks per year [term time only]

Hawes Down Primary School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Play Worker to join our friendly wraparound care team. You will support the delivery of high-quality breakfast and after-school provision, creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children aged [4-11].

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and engage children in a range of play activities (indoor and outdoor)

What we’re looking for

Desirable:

  • Relevant childcare qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Playwork, Childcare, or similar)
