Job summary

Cloudsmith in Belfast, Northern Ireland seeks a platform-minded software engineer to own developer-facing tooling—CLI, Terraform provider, MCP server, and IDE extensions—shaping durable interfaces used by thousands of engineers.

You’ll work with Customer Success and Solutions Engineering to ensure tooling reflects real-world workflows, with a focus on secure, well-documented APIs and a great developer experience.

Qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years shipping production-grade software.
• Strong API and interface design instincts; consider breaking changes and versioning.
• Proficiency in at least one strongly-typed language (Go, Python, TypeScript or similar).
• Security-minded coding practices; credentials and access patterns awareness.
• Familiarity with CI/CD ecosystems and modern DevOps toolchains.
• Clear, confident written communication for RFCs, changelogs, READMEs.
• Empathy for engineers as users; translate feedback into durable tooling.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Cloudsmith's developer-facing integrations (CLI, Terraform provider, MCP server, IDE/LSP extensions).
• Design durable interfaces with thoughtful versioning and backward compatibility.
• Own end-to-end software lifecycle: design, development, testing, release, support.
• Stay aligned with the platform and engineering org to evolve tooling with Cloudsmith.
• Turn customer feedback into scalable tooling improvements.
• Champion developer experience through ergonomic CLI/SDK/IDE design.
• Contribute to automation across testing, releases, and validation.
