Job summary

Hartmann Young is partnered with an early-stage healthcare technology company developing AI-powered software for use in clinical environments. They are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join as a key technical hire, taking ownership across the core platform and working closely with the CTO.

You will own and develop backend services, build Python APIs and data pipelines, and mentor engineers as the team grows.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong commercial Python background.
• Production systems on Azure or AWS.
• APIs, databases and data-heavy applications.
• Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers.
• Comfortable in an early-stage, high-ownership environment.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Exposure to FHIR, HL7 or ML infrastructure is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop backend services and data infrastructure.
• Build and maintain Python-based APIs, pipelines and production systems.
• Support integrations with healthcare and clinical data systems.
• Work across cloud infrastructure, ML deployment and platform architecture.
• Lead technical projects from design through to production.
• Mentor engineers as the team grows.
• Help shape technical direction and engineering best practice.
