Job summary

Hackney Borough Council is seeking an exceptional technology leader to shape, protect and enable our platforms, infrastructure and cyber capabilities. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across cloud and hybrid infrastructure, cyber security and security operations, networks, connectivity and colleague platforms.

You will lead a critical corporate function to ensure secure, resilient and scalable technology environments that support residents and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience across platforms, infrastructure and cyber security.
• Strong record of modernising infrastructure, cloud migration or platform transformation.
• Experience maintaining resilient and highly available services in regulated environments.
• Proven leadership of cyber incident preparedness, response and recovery.
• Experience developing cyber security strategies, zero-trust and strong IAM controls.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through organisational change.
• Ability to engage colleagues and build a council-wide cyber security culture.
• Confidence advising senior leaders on technical, financial and security risks.
• Evidence of innovative solutions that improved resilience, productivity or user experience.
• Experience delivering efficiencies and value through platform consolidation, cloud optimisation and automated processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Council’s platform, infrastructure and cyber security strategies, ensuring secure, resilient and scalable services.
• Oversee security operations, threat intelligence, incident response, and governance in collaboration with data protection, architecture and service leads.
• Direct cloud platforms, networks, connectivity and colleague technology to support new ways of working and improved productivity.
• Advise senior leaders and elected Members on risks, costs and organisational impact.
• Manage external partnerships, contracts and investments to deliver value for money and reduce dependency.
