Job summary

HSBC is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join the Digital Hosting Platform in the UK. You’ll design, build and operate robust microservices, ensuring security, reliability and observability while collaborating with product owners and cross-functional IT teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive software engineering experience with DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE.
• Solid understanding of internet tech: DNS, TLS, load balancing, proxies, gateways.
• Hands-on with Grafana and InfluxDB; time-series data visuals.
• Proactive mindset to spot bottlenecks and opportunities.
• Experience handling critical production incidents under pressure.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product Owners to understand requirements and break into deliverables.
• Design and build robust, scalable microservices with observability and DevOps practices.
• Own deliverables end-to-end from design to deployment.
• Provide rapid production support and root-cause analysis.
• Act as technical consultant for platform users and unblock teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to evolve the platform.
• Proactively manage technical debt and maintain security posture.
• Mentor junior developers and promote high-performing culture.
