Job summary

SBS is seeking a Platform Engineer to join the MSS Engineering team in the UK. You will design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure, focusing on Oracle DBA activities and automation.

The role emphasizes IaC practices, CI/CD improvements, and AI-enabled modernization, with collaboration across engineering teams to ensure reliability and security. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in platform or cloud engineering, strong Oracle DBA skills, and hands-on Terraform/Ansible experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or similar.
• Strong Oracle Database Administration (DBA) experience with implementation and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience supporting AWS cloud environments and infrastructure automation.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Experience in Linux-based environments and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure platform infrastructure.
• Administer and optimize Oracle database environments.
• Implement Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform and Ansible.
• Develop automation tooling to improve deployment and configuration management.
• Support AWS-based services and containerized workloads.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines for reliable software delivery.
• Monitor performance, availability, and security with continuous improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on deployment and modernization initiatives.
• Contribute to Landing Zone 2.0 and cloud transformation efforts.
• Explore and apply AI-assisted engineering practices to boost productivity.
• Document architecture, procedures, and technical standards.
• Provide guidance and knowledge sharing across the team.
