Job summary

eFinancialCareers in London is seeking an experienced Platform Engineer to join its Infrastructure and Platform Engineering team. You will design, implement and support scalable infrastructure across on‑premise and cloud environments, with a focus on automation, IaC and modern tooling.

The role requires strong experience with Microsoft server technologies, VMware/Hyper‑V, Azure or AWS, Kubernetes and Microsoft 365, plus hands‑on scripting with PowerShell or Python.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in platform, infrastructure or systems engineering.
• Strong experience with the Microsoft server technology stack.
• Experience designing and supporting VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
• Knowledge of on-premise hardware deployments, ideally using HPE.
• Experience with public-cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Hands-on knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, source control and ServiceNow.
• Scripting or programming ability using PowerShell and/or Python.
• Familiarity with APIs and data formats such as JSON and YAML.
• Experience with Kubernetes or another container platform.
• Exposure to Generative AI technologies through Azure OpenAI, AWS or similar services.
• Previous experience within financial services or another highly regulated environment would be advantageous.

Platform Engineer - Financial Services

Location: London

Employment Type: Permanent

We are partnering with a leading global financial-services organisation to recruit an experienced Platform Engineer for its London-based Infrastructure and Platform Engineering team.

This is a broad, hands‑on position covering the design, engineering and support of private and public cloud platforms used across trading, middle‑office, back‑office and technology functions globally.

You will work across on‑premise, hosted and public‑cloud environments, helping the firm modernise its infrastructure through automation, orchestration and Infrastructure as Code. The role offers exposure to a varied technology estate, including Windows, virtualisation, Microsoft 365, Azure or AWS, Kubernetes and Generative AI.

Key responsibilities
