Job summary

Scale AI is seeking a Platform Engineer to drive the design and development of core data storage, streaming, caching, and indexing platforms that support large‑scale AI models. You will collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements, define new features, and lead improvements in tooling and processes.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in backend engineering for data systems, strong experience with MongoDB, Postgres, Kinesis, Flink, Spark, ElasticSearch, Redis, and query engines; plus

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full-time engineering experience focusing on backend systems for large-scale data storage, streaming, and warehousing.
• Experience with MongoDB/Postgres, Kinesis/Flink/Spark, ElasticSearch/Redis, and query engines like Trino/Presto/Snowflake.
• Track record of mentoring and leading teams in successful projects.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluent experience with containerization and deployment technologies such as Kubernetes and major public cloud platforms.
• Extensive experience in software development and a deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud platforms, and data systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive the design, implementation, and reliability of our foundational data platforms and systems, working closely with stakeholders and internal customers to understand and refine requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.
• Proactively identify opportunities for and drive improvements to current programming practices, including process enhancements and tool upgrades.
• Present technical information to teams and stakeholders, providing guidance and insight on development processes and technologies.
