Job summary

Octopus is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to strengthen CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and deployment automation across multiple teams including AI. The role focuses on secure, scalable software delivery in a regulated environment with a strong emphasis on observability, security, and operational excellence.

You will work closely with Engineering, AI, Infrastructure, and SecOps to advance platform standards, tooling, and automation while enabling teams to release software more

Qualifications

  • Experience in DevOps/platform engineering or similar
  • Proven ability to build/run CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong Azure cloud services experience

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines across products and teams.
  • Lead software deployment, release automation, and environment management in Azure.
  • Design, build, and maintain infrastructure using IaC (Terraform).
  • Provide DevOps support to multiple development teams including AI team.
  • Support platform reliability and incident resolution within DevOps scope.
  • Drive adoption of Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and standard tooling.

Team Overview

The DevOps team sits within Engineering and will consist of two DevOps Engineers in total andis responsible forsupporting secure, reliable, and scalable engineering delivery across the business.

The team supports four development teams as well as the AI team for deployment and infrastructure needs. It also works closely with the Infrastructure and SecOps teams tomaintainservices, improve operational resilience, and ensure engineering environmentsremainsecure, stable, and effective.

Job Overview

The Senior Platform Engineer playsan important rolewithin the Engineering team and the wider business by enabling safe, reliable, and efficient software delivery in a regulated environment. This role is central to the ongoing operation and improvement of CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, observability, and engineering platform support.

The role works closely with peers in Engineering, technical leads, solution architects, test managers, the AI team, Infrastructure, and SecOps. It is important to both day-to-day delivery and longer-term improvement of engineering practices, helping teams release software more effectively whilemaintainingstrong standards for security, quality, operational control, and cloud architecture.

Responsibilities
  • Build,maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines across products and teams.
  • Lead software deployment, release automation, and environment management in Azure.
  • Design, build, andmaintaininfrastructure using infrastructure-as-code approaches, including Terraform modules whereappropriate.
  • Provide DevOps support to four development teams and the AI team for deployment and infrastructure needs.
  • Support the PSS team when needed on platform, deployment, and operational issues within DevOps scope.
  • Lead, support, and drive the further development, rollout, and adoption of the Internal Developer Platform (IDP), helping shape shared tooling, templates, and engineering standards across teams.
  • Monitor platform health,identifyissues early, and support operational incident resolution within DevOps scope.
  • Prepare anddemonstratecloud architectural designs fornew resourcesand platform changes.
  • Investigate production incidents within DevOps scope,identifyroot cause, and drive resolution and improvement actions.
  • Track release dates, gather feedback from technical leads, and help ensure deployments are smooth, secure, and automated withappropriate approvalchecks.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
  • Strong commercial experience in a DevOps, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or similar role.
  • Experience building, running, andmaintainingCI/CD pipelines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong experience working with Azure cloud services.
  • Experience using Git-based source control, branching strategies, and version control practices.
  • Experience writing and troubleshooting Bash and/or PowerShell scripts.
  • Good understanding of observability concepts including metrics, logs, alerting, and operational visibility.
  • Good understanding of Linux fundamentals, including scripting, file handling, text processing, system administration, and process management.
  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases such as MSSQL, MySQL, SQLite, MongoDB, and Cosmos DB.
  • Experience of Terraform and the ability to create andmaintainreusable modules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent tooling.
  • Experience with Docker or container-based delivery models.
  • Experience supporting AI or data-focused teams with deployment and infrastructure.
