Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Platform Engineer to build and maintain a world-class technology infrastructure. You will own Linux infrastructure, CI/CD tooling, automation, and platform resilience to support trading platforms and engineering teams.

The role requires a strong DevOps background with 5+ years in financial services, cloud experience, and a proactive, owning mindset to drive reliability and efficiency in a fast-paced hedge fund environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Administer and support DevOps systems (Puppet, Jenkins, GitHub, SVN).
• Manage deployment and lifecycle for core platforms.
• Automate Linux systems, patching, and resiliency planning.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize core infrastructure.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to resolve dependencies.

Our client, a leading multi-strategy hedge fund, is seeking a Platform Engineer to play a critical role in building and maintaining a world-class technology infrastructure environment. This is a highly visible position with broad ownership across Linux infrastructure, CI/CD and DevOps tooling, software deployment, automation, platform resilience, and performance optimisation, directly supporting the firm's core trading platforms and engineering teams while driving the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of the technology stack.

The ideal profile will be a DevOps Engineer with at least five year's experience in financial services, strong expertise across modern DevOps tooling, cloud infrastructure, automation, and Linux environments. The role offers significant exposure across the business, partnering with both technology teams and end users to design, maintain, and enhance resilient, scalable platforms while driving operational efficiency and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be a proactive communicator with a strong sense of ownership, capable of translating business and technical requirements into robust technology solutions within a fast-paced hedge fund environment.

Responsibilities and Impact:

• Administer and support the firm's DevOps systems - Including but not limited to Puppet, Jenkins, GitHub, and SVN
• Manage software compilation, deployment, and lifecycle management for the firm's core application platforms
• Administer and automate the firm's Linux systems, including resource management, continuity and resiliency planning, security operations, and patching / upgrade lifecycle management
• Monitor and troubleshoot core systems, identifying solutions to resolve issues and recommending changes to improve performance
• Support business and technology development teams with dependency resolution and software testing methodologies

Our future colleague has these skills:

• Minimum 5 year's experience working in development or IT Operations for a financial services company
• University degree preferred
• Hands-on experience with multiple DevOps tools
• Experience with public cloud management and associated automation (AWS, Azure, etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to gather and translate business and technical requirements into reproducible and resilient technology systems
• Continuously assess current systems and processes and recommend modifications where appropriate
