Job summary

Yorkshire Building Society is seeking a Platform Engineer to own and evolve the Fabric Data Platform on Azure. You will deliver and support data platform services, provide 3rd line support, and drive automation, capacity and security management.

The role works closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Project teams. The ideal candidate has strong Azure Fabric administration, data integration and IaC experience, with a focus on reliability and performance in enterprise

Qualifications

• Proven experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Fabric administration.
• Experience with data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory and Oracle Goldengate.
• DBA skills for SQL Server and/or Oracle.
• Experience in hybrid cloud data platform environments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC and managed identities.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Scripting in PowerShell or Python; REST API automation.
• Strong monitoring and performance management in enterprise settings.
• Willingness to learn and share knowledge with the team.

About the Role

As a Platform Engineer (for Fabric Data Platform), you will –

• Enable the business through the delivery and support of the Microsoft Fabric and Azure-based Fabric Data Platform

• Provide 3rd line support for business-critical data platform services

• Proactively identify and implement automation, orchestration and CI/ CD capabilities using Infrastructure as Code and platform engineering practices

• Provide capacity, performance, resilience and security management across the platform, including monitoring, governance, and operational support

• Provide technical consultancy and support to Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure and Project teams

About You

Whilst we don't expect you to know everything from day one, it is essential to have knowledge and experience in several of the following areas:

• Microsoft Azure platform services and cloud engineering

• Microsoft Fabric administration, including Workspaces, Lakehouses, Warehouses and Data Pipelines

• Data integration technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Gateway and Oracle Goldengate

• Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle Database administration, connectivity and authentication.

• Hybrid data platforms integrating cloud services with on-premises SQL Server and Oracle environments

• Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, service principals and managed identities

• Terraform, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code

• PowerShell, Python and REST API automation

• Monitoring, performance management and operational support within enterprise environments

• The ability to embrace new technologies and share knowledge across the team
