Job description

Build Platforms. Enable Developers. Drive Innovation.

We're partnering with a highly respected financial services organisation seeking a Platform & DevOps Engineer to join a small, highly skilled cloud engineering team responsible for enabling modern application delivery across the business.

This is an opportunity to join a team where engineers are trusted to take ownership, challenge existing approaches and introduce new ideas. You'll work across Platform Engineering, DevOps and Site Reliability disciplines, supporting a cloud‑first environment and helping development teams deliver secure, reliable and scalable services.

The team is intentionally lean, offering significant exposure to modern technologies and the freedom to influence how platforms, tooling and automation evolve. This role would suit someone who enjoys working close to the technology, solving complex problems and continuously improving the developer experience.

The Role

As a key member of the Platform Engineering function, you'll help operate and enhance an established Azure platform while supporting development teams throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

This is not a greenfield build. Instead, you'll focus on integrating, configuring, automating and optimising existing cloud platforms to enable efficient application deployment and operational excellence.

You'll work across a broad technology stack spanning Azure, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and observability, helping to bridge the gap between infrastructure and software engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support, maintain and enhance Azure-based cloud platforms and services.
  • Manage and operate containerised workloads running within Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Build, deploy and troubleshoot applications across development, test and production environments.
  • Design, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineering teams to improve platform adoption and developer enablement.
  • Implement and enhance monitoring, logging and observability capabilities.
  • Support reliability, resilience and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Contribute to engineering standards, reusable platform services and automation frameworks.
  • Investigate and resolve complex platform, deployment and application issues.Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
About You

We're looking for a hands‑on engineer who combines platform engineering capability with strong DevOps principles.

You'll be comfortable working across infrastructure, automation and application delivery, with a genuine interest in helping development teams get services into production safely and effectively.

  • Strong experience working within Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Experience deploying, operating and troubleshooting containerised applications.
  • Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform.
  • Experience with Docker and Helm.
  • Scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash and/or Python.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging and observability tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with developers, architects and wider technology teams.
  • Exposure to GitOps methodologies and tooling such as ArgoCD.
  • Experience within financial services or another regulated environment.
  • Understanding of software supply chain security, vulnerability management and operational governance.
  • Knowledge of platform engineering and site reliability engineering best practices.
What Makes This Opportunity Different?
  • Join a small, highly capable engineering team where your contribution has visible impact.
  • Work across Platform Engineering, DevOps and Site Reliability rather than being restricted to a single discipline.
  • Significant autonomy to introduce new ideas, technologies and improvements.
  • Collaborate with talented engineers in a culture that encourages innovation and technical ownership.
  • Opportunity to broaden your skills and accelerate your development in a modern cloud environment.
  • Exposure to enterprise‑scale platforms while retaining the agility of a small team.
Who Will Thrive Here?

This role is likely to appeal to a Platform Engineer looking to deepen their DevOps expertise, a DevOps Engineer seeking greater platform ownership, or an SRE looking for broader cloud engineering responsibilities.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys being hands‑on, values continuous improvement, and wants to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of a modern cloud platform.
