Job summary

Ashdown Group seeks a Platform & Cyber Security Specialist to work in a large organisation undergoing an IT transformation. The role focuses on securing a cloud-first environment and leading security controls throughout the Microsoft stack in a hybrid setup with three days in the North West London office and two remote days.

You will manage Microsoft Entra end to end, configure security across Office 365 and endpoints, and monitor threats with Defender and Sentinel while maintaining DNS/DHCP

Qualifications

• Experience delivering and securing cloud-first environments.
• Hybrid Exchange Online and on-premises experience.
• Hands-on with Microsoft Entra ID: CA, MFA, SSPR, PIM, and identity lifecycle.
• Experience with Defender products (Defender 365) and Sentinel.
• Strong knowledge of DNS, DHCP, and certificate services.
• Proficient in PowerShell scripting and automation.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a Platform & Cyber Security Specialist to work within a large organisation as they move through an IT transformation programme. This is a key role where you will help deliver and secure the organisation's cloud-first technology environment, ensuring their digital services remain modern, resilient and secure. This is a hybrid role based 3 days a week at their offices in North West London and 2 days working from home.

The Platform and Cyber Security Specialist will take ownership of the platforms, cyber security controls and emerging technologies that underpin the organisation's digital environment. This includes managing the Microsoft Entra environment end to end - from Entra Connect, ID objects, and licensing through to security controls such as PIM, Conditional Access, MFA, and SSPR.

You'll also configure and manage security across Office 365 and endpoints, including Defender RBAC and Defender for Cloud Apps, staying ahead of emerging threats by investigating alerts and incidents, monitoring and remediating risks and generating audits and reports, alongside safeguarding the organisation from spam and phishing through Microsoft 365 email remediation, eDiscovery, and retention policy configuration. Additionally, you'll be responsible for SSL certificates and the wider VPN estate, applying a strong understanding of DNS, DHCP, and name resolution to configure SSL VPN profiles and maintain a robust security posture.

Key skills

• Strong understanding of cyber security principles, identity and access management and MS security best practices.
• Experienced with Hybrid Exchange environments, including Exchange Online and on-premises services.
• Skilled in managing Microsoft Entra ID environments, including Conditional Access, MFA, SSPR, PIM, and identity life cycle management.
• Experience of Microsoft 365 Defender and Sentinel to monitor, investigate, and respond to security threats and incidents.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory management, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, domains, trusts, replication, and certificate services.
• Familiar with Microsoft Intune and endpoint management including device security and compliance policies.
• Knowledge of VPN technologies, SSL certificates, and core networking concepts
• Proficient in PowerShell Scripting and automation
