Job description

We don't just believe in better . We make it happen.

Better content. Better products. And better careers.

Working in Tech, Product or Data at Sky is about building the next and the new. From broadband to broadcast, streaming to mobile, Sky Stream to Sky Glass, we never stand still. We optimise and innovate. We turn big ideas into the products, content and services millions of people love. And we do it all right here at Sky.

Role/Team overview

We are seeking enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join Platform Control - a key 1st line technical support team within Content eXperience & Distribution (CXD), part of CT&I. Platform Control ensures that Sky's broadcast content is robustly delivered across our TV platforms and apps.

As a Platform Controller, you will work at the forefront of cutting-edge broadcast technology in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment. You aren't customer-facing; instead, issues come through monitoring tools, internal departments, or 3rd party providers. No two days are the same- one minute you might restore a linear channel on Sky Glass, and the next, diagnose an On Demand playback issue on NOW TV or troubleshoot an interactive app on Sky Q. We provide full training to help you quickly identify faults and restore service.

This role offers fantastic career growth, with clear paths for promotion to higher grades based on skill and competency, plus potential opportunities to collaborate with or travel to our international sites in Munich and Milan.

What you'll do

Minimize Downtime: Work onsite at Osterley to reduce incident impact for Sky customers, Wholesale Partners, and 3rd Party Content Providers.

Monitor & Diagnose: Utilize monitoring tools to quickly and accurately identify live platform issues.

Manage Incidents: Prioritize and resolve technical issues via known fixes or elevate to appropriate support departments following official procedures.

Maintain Ownership: Retain oversight of escalated issues, logging accurate updates and resolution details.

Proactive Maintenance & Handovers: Monitor planned maintenance for potential platform impact, conduct shift handovers, and manage operational channels (email inboxes, MS Teams, Spark queues, and documentation).

What you'll bring

Location & Shift Pattern: Ability to work onsite at our Osterley campus on a 12-hour shift schedule following a 5-5-4 pattern (5 days on, 5 off, 5 nights on, 5 off, 4 days on, 4 off , then repeat) within a sensible commuting distance.

Education: ' A' level education or equivalent.

Technical & Core Skills: Solid IT skills, excellent communication, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work under pressure to tight deadlines.

Degree-level education.

Experience with Broadcast Platforms (DTH, OTT, IPTV & VOD) and platform system workflows.

Working knowledge of Databases, Microsoft, SQL, Unix, Linux, Networks, or ServiceNow products.

Previous experience working in a service/help desk role.
