About the role

We’re seeking a skilled Platform Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic Platform Cloud Team and play a critical role in managing, maintaining, and optimising our VMware Cloud Foundation platforms. You’ll be responsible for provisioning and supporting Node4’s virtualisation infrastructure, ensuring compliance with company guidelines while implementing security best practices.

This includes installing, configuring, and maintaining dedicated and shared cloud platforms within our data centers, performing firmware and software upgrades, monitoring and troubleshooting platform performance, and providing expert 3rd and 4th level support for escalated incidents.

Working closely with cross-functional teams including Service Desk, Cloud Support, Security, DevOps, and Networking, you’ll also create and maintain technical documentation, contribute to incident, problem, and change management following ITIL principles, and conduct root cause analyses to drive long-term improvements. With occasional evening and weekend work to support upgrades, as well as participation in an on-call rota, this role is ideal for a driven engineer ready to enhance Node4’s cloud platform reliability and innovation.

What will you bring?

• In-depth understanding of VMware Cloud Foundation products, including vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, NSX.
• Experience of VMware Cloud Director and Cloud Director Availability.
• Experience of Aria Suite, including Aria Operations products and Aria Automation Orchestrator.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience configuring & managing virtualised and cloud infrastructures.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (Python, Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell).
• Experience with infrastructure logging, monitoring and management tools.

Desirable

• Experience working in multi-tenant Managed Service Provider Environment.
• Understanding of Layer2 and Layer3 network design and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with other virtualization technologies (Hyper-V, Azure Local, Openstack) and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge or experience with Backup products, e.g. Veeam, Commvault and Disaster Recovery products e.g. Zerto.
• Knowledge or experience managing Storage products.
• Knowledge or experience of Server Hardware Management tools e.g. HPE OneView, Dell OpenManage, Lenovo XClarity Administrator.
