Job summary

Altrad is seeking a Plater to support mechanical activities across operations and asset management projects. The role includes bench fitting, marking off, grinding, and inspection, with safe, efficient delivery to high quality standards.

You will work in a heavy engineering facility alongside welders and other trades, supporting site and off-site fabrication as required. You will be part of a multi-skilled team, using hand and power tools, operating workshop equipment, and ensuring compliance

Qualifications

• Bench fitting, marking off, grinding, setup and fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Experience with lifting operations and overhead crane usage.
• Knowledge of engineering codes, standards, and procedures.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake site-based work.

Responsibilities

• Safely use hand and power tools for bench fitting and assembly.
• Mark off regular and irregular shapes.
• Tack weld and cut using cutting equipment.
• Fabricate rigs, fixtures and test specimens with a multi-skilled team.
• Operate workshop equipment like band saws and guillotines.
• Inspect with QA tools to meet quality standards.
• Deliver work to project schedules and safety standards.
• Carry out lifting operations safely with overhead cranes.
• Provide practical support to operations and asset teams.
• Maintain housekeeping and equipment care.
