Job summary

UKSE Group in Cardiff is seeking 2–3 skilled engineers for fabrication and welding tasks. You will cut, grind, and layout various metal forms, perform MIG/MMA tack welds, and assemble finished products.

Reading drawings and precision measurements are essential, with experience in heavy industry and working at height advantageous. Responsibilities include preparing weld bevels, marking cylinders and nozzle holes, and using torches or plasma for cutting.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read fabrication drawings accurately.
• Experience with heavy industrial fabrication and pressure vessels is advantageous.
• Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weld bevels on seams and pipework for welding.

My client requires 2 to 3 skilled engineers

KEY TASKS

• Accurately cutting, grinding, and laying out a wide variety of materials including sheet metal, plate, tube, pipe, channel, and angle.
• Performing basic quality MIG and MMA tack welds on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
• Performing final assembly to produce high quality finished products
• Marking out cylinders to provide quarter lines and exact locations of nozzles, brackets and other attachments, and marking out nozzle holes using centre punch.
• Cutting out holes in cylinders using propane / acetylene torches and plasma torches.
• Creating templates for a range of shapes and profiles e.g. tangential nozzle in cylinder.
• Joining metal cylinders together using temporary attachments, chain blocks and similar equipment.
• Cutting and shaping weld preparation bevels on cylinder main seams and also nozzle weld preparations.
• Preparing weld bevels on pipework and tacking together pipes and flanges ready for welding.

Skills

• Experience using factory equipment such as horizontal saws, pillar drill, rotators, manipulators, cranes, safely and effectively.
• Experience with pipework or structural steelwork would be advantageous
• Ideally had previous experience within the heavy industry and working with pressure vessels
• Comfortable working at height and within confined spaces
• You must be able to accurately read and understand fabrication drawing
• Confident with simple math calculations including fractions and decimals
