Job summary

SER Limited in Beverley is seeking a Plater to support fabrication and plating operations. You will read engineering drawings, mark out, cut, shape, and assemble plate components, and prepare materials to exact specifications.

You must work from 7:00 to 15:00 Monday-Thursday and Friday mornings, totaling 36.5 hours weekly, with overtime options and a strong focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Plater within a fabrication, engineering, or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good practical fabrication, measuring, marking-out, and assembly skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
• Awareness of safe lifting, handling, and use of fabrication equipment.
• Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, job packs, and specifications.
• Mark out, cut, shape, form, and assemble plate, sections, and fabricated components.
• Use appropriate fabrication tools, machinery, and equipment safely and correctly.
• Prepare, align, and tack components ready for welding, ensuring they meet the required standards.
• Measure and check work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with drawings and specifications.
• Work safely with overhead cranes, lifting equipment, and mechanical handling equipment where trained and authorised.
• Report defects, drawing issues, material concerns, or production problems to the line manager.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
• Follow company procedures, safety rules, and quality standards at all times.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying practical improvements to working methods.
