Job summary

CareerMakers Recruitment is seeking a Fabricator/Plater for a client in Chesterfield (S46). You will read drawings, mark out materials, and prepare steel components for fabrication with safe handling of lifting equipment and tools.

Typical duties include cutting, drilling, grinding, bending, assembling and welding steel work to exact tolerances, while maintaining quality standards and a clean, safe work environment. 6am–4:30pm shifts are available with Friday early finish.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Measure and mark out materials.
• Prepare steel and platework for fabrication.
• Cut, drill, grind, bend, fit and assemble components.
• Fabricate and weld structural steelwork and platework to spec.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, measure and mark out materials, and prepare steel and platework for fabrication.
• Cut, drill, grind, bend, fit and assemble components using appropriate workshop tools and equipment.
• Fabricate and weld structural steelwork and platework to required specifications, dimensions and tolerances.
• Use lifting equipment and workshop machinery safely and correctly.
• Inspect finished work, carry out finishing and grinding, and ensure work meets quality standards.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment and follow all company health and safety procedures.
• Work effectively as part of a team, meet production deadlines and maintain a high standard of workmanship.
