Job summary

Wood is seeking experienced Shutdown Platers to support a planned outage based onsite in Teesside. The role demands hands-on plating on critical equipment and strict adherence to safety standards within a fast-paced shutdown environment.

The successful candidate will read and follow project procedures, work packs, and drawings, while maintaining high quality workmanship and cooperating with multi-discipline teams to meet tight schedules.

Qualifications

  • 4 Year Apprenticeship or Level 3 equivalent.
  • CCNSG safety Passport.
  • Wood mandatory training, induction, risk awareness, etc.
  • Abrasive Wheels.
  • Working at Height/Harness training.
  • Working at Heights and Confined space will be a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Read, understand and implement all applicable company/project policies, working practices and procedures, ensuring at all times that the plating/structural work scope is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Follow the schedule communicated by the supervisor.
  • Complete all workscope in accordance with applicable workpack/jobcard instructions, associated procedures and drawings/sketches.
  • Provide support to other trades/disciplines where required, or form part of an integrated multi-discipline team.
  • Apply for relevant permits to work (PTW) in order to complete workscope in a controlled and safe manner (onshore only).
  • Undertake appropriate risk assessments (RA) in order to complete workscope in a safe and controlled manner.

Wood is seeking experienced Shutdown Platers to support a planned outage based onsite in Teesside.

This is a hands‑on role suited to highly skilled Platers with proven experience working within fast‑paced shutdown environments, carrying out high‑quality plating on critical plant equipment.

Candidates must be safety‑focused, quality‑driven, and comfortable working in demanding environments, including confined spaces and at height, while delivering work to tight shutdown schedules.

Purpose / Role
  • Deliver a high quality, consistent and competent plating construction service in accordance with project/company requirements, standards and procedures.
  • Support overall delivery of company goals and schedule.
  • Ensure all that all work scope is completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, fabric or environment.
Key aims and objectives

Qualifications
About You

You are an experienced Plater with a strong background in industrial shutdowns, power generation, energy, petrochemical, or heavy process environments. You have proven experience and can consistently produce work to the highest quality standards under demanding outage schedules.

  • 4 Year Apprenticeship or Level 3 equivalent
