Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Worker / Plater for a Govan-based heavy engineering environment. You will fabricate, assemble and install components from drawings, ensuring safe, high-quality workmanship. You will follow SHE processes, work with other trades, and maintain tight tolerances across all fabrication tasks.

You will support apprentices and adapt to evolving practices while maintaining strong hand skills and reliability in a fast-paced production setting.

Qualifications

Sheet Metal Worker / Plater - Govan

We are looking for experienced Sheet Metal Workers to carry out fabrication, assembly, and installation activities within a heavy engineering environment, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret and work from fabrication and installation drawings.
• Perform sheet metal fabrication, assembly, and fitting activities using a range of hand tools and techniques.
• Follow manufacturing processes and maintain compliance with safety, health, and environmental (SHE) requirements.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and other trades to resolve practical production issues.
• Maintain quality standards and work within specified tolerances.
• Support the development of apprentices by sharing trade knowledge and best practices.
• Adapt to evolving technologies, drawings, and industry work practices.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Good knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and associated trade practices.
• Understanding of quality standards and work tolerances.
