Job summary

Job Advert in Haverhill, Suffolk is seeking a skilled metal worker to run the plasma cutter for an engineering firm. Starting rate of £15ph+ (negotiable) with overtime at time and a half. Hours: 07:30-16:30, Mon-Thu with earlier finish on Fri.

40 hours per week; temp-perm after a 3-month probation. Training available for candidates with an engineering background or machining experience. Preferred backgrounds include an engineering apprenticeship or practical machine operation experience.

Qualifications

• Experience with plasma cutting or similar fabrication processes preferred.
• Engineering background or apprenticeship with practical machining experience.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a busy workshop environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the plasma cutter and manage material loading/unloading.
• Support fabrication team and read CAD drawings to ensure correct fabrication.
• Work with various fabrication machinery (saws, drills) and use hand/power tools.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and safety requirements.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled metal worker to come and run the plasma cutter for an engineering firm in Haverhill, Suffolk.

Starting rate of £15ph+ (negotiable) with overtime available, all at time & half!

Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Contract: Temp-Perm

The company had a full order book for the foreseeable & need an experienced machinist to join them, ideally with plasma cutting experience.

Training can be provided if you have some form of engineering background, or other machining experience.

Plasma Cutter duties:

• Running the plasma cutter
• Loading & unloading of material
• Assisting the fabrication team as & when required
• Reading & working from CAD drawings
• Familiar with various fabrication machinery, i.e., saws, drills etc.
• Competent in the use of various hand & power tools

Ideally successful applicant will have come from an engineering apprenticeship / relevant qualification or will have practical experience working as a machine operator.

Working hours 07:30-16:30, Monday-Thursday with an earlier finish on a Friday.

This is a permanent, full-time role subject to a successful 3-month probation period.
