Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK is seeking a hands-on Plant Supervisor to oversee the concrete plant's day-to-day operations, ensuring safety, quality and timely production. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will manage batching, materials, and site coordination with the order office, customers and contractors.

You will monitor equipment, perform routine inspections, supervise hauliers, maintain housekeeping, and uphold environmental and health & safety standards while delivering reliable service.

Qualifications

• Experience in concrete manufacturing or similar operational environment.
• Ability to operate batching and site systems safely and efficiently.
• Strong focus on safety, quality and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate batching plant to produce concrete and mortar to quality standards.
• Coordinate with Order Office to meet production and customer requirements.
• Provide friendly professional service to customers face-to-face and by phone.
• Ensure materials are available to meet production demands and stock levels are accurate.
• Perform routine plant inspections and report defects.
• Supervise contractors, hauliers and visitors, enforcing safety procedures.
• Maintain housekeeping, site presentation and security to high standards.
• Monitor plant equipment usage and environmental controls as required.
• Ensure waste disposal and emissions comply with environmental requirements.

Plant Supervisor Take control of the plant. Keep operations moving. Deliver a great service. We're looking for a confident and hands-on Plant Supervisor to take responsibility for the safe, efficient and professional day-to-day running of our concrete plant. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be at the heart of the operation, overseeing production, maintaining high standards across the site and ensuring our customers receive the quality products and service they expect. This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same. One moment you could be operating our computer-based batching system, the next speaking with customers, checking stock levels, carrying out routine maintenance or making sure contractors and hauliers are working safely on site. If you enjoy taking ownership, solving problems and working in a fast-paced operational environment, this could be the role for you.

What you'll be doing

• Operating the batching plant and accurately producing concrete and mortar to the required quality standards
• Working closely with the Order Office to ensure production meets customer requirements
• Providing a professional and friendly service to customers both face-to-face and over the phone
• Ensuring sufficient materials are available to meet production demands
• Inspecting incoming materials and completing regular stock checks
• Carrying out routine plant inspections and maintenance, identifying and reporting defects
• Supervising contractors, hauliers and visitors to ensure site safety procedures are followed
• Maintaining excellent standards of housekeeping, site presentation and security
• Monitoring plant, equipment and materials to ensure they are used safely and efficiently
• Ensuring waste disposal, water discharge and dust emissions are managed in line with environmental requirements
• Maintaining high standards across health and safety, environmental compliance, product quality and customer service
• Reporting any issues that could impact the safe and effective operation of the plant

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is practical, safety-conscious and comfortable taking responsibility for a busy operational site. You'll need to be organised, approachable and confident dealing with a range of people, from customers and colleagues to drivers and contractors. You'll also be comfortable using computer-based systems and getting hands-on when routine plant maintenance or inspections are required. Experience within concrete, aggregates, construction, manufacturing or another operational environment would be beneficial, but just as important is having the right attitude, a strong focus on safety and the confidence to take ownership of the plant.
