Job summary

Stericycle in the United Kingdom is seeking a Plant/Processing Operations assistant to support the day-to-day receipt, treatment and disposal of clinical waste, ensuring high plant availability and compliance with procedures and legislation.

You will unload vehicles, manage waste containers, co-ordinate deliveries, and assist with forklift operation and plant shutdowns, while maintaining accurate records and following safety standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate a flexible approach to hours including shift work.

Responsibilities

• Unloading of vehicles and trailers (site specific).
• The effective manoeuvring of waste on the plant and weighing of containers.
• To ensure that the waste containers are emptied, cleaned thoroughly and readily available in a suitable ‘empty’ storage area ready for collection.
• To co-ordinate the paperwork and reception of all deliveries to the plant, including that of suppliers and contractors.
• To oversee the safe handling into containers by the respective deliverer, in the event loose waste is delivered to the site
• Operate fork Lift truck if required
• To participate in plant shutdowns as necessary.
• To maintain company operational records and data, specific to the job function
• To draw attention to Management any major defects, concerns or problems to the equipment or building, prior to actioning.
• To work under the directions of and assist the Shift Supervisor and Plant Manager in his or her duties in the event of a breakdown or controlled stoppage.
• To observe and comply with all safety notice and signs and to ensure that all work is carried out in a safe and proper manner at all times.
• To attend training courses or instruction specific to the job as required.
• Additional duties as necessary to ensure safe compliance and continuation of operations of the plant.
• To comply with company health & safety procedures.
