Job summary

FCC Environment is hiring a Plant Operator at Calvert Landfill. You will operate mobile plant to safely and efficiently accept and place waste, maximise void utilisation, maintain equipment, and deliver high-quality customer service on site.

The role requires valid plant licences, solid experience with heavy plant in waste/landfill settings, and a strong focus on health and safety. It is a full-time, on-site position with progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Valid plant licences/tickets (e.g. Bulldozer, Excavator, Loading Shovel, Dumper).
• Experience operating heavy plant within a waste, landfill or similar environment.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Awareness of site compliance and operational procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operating mobile plant to manage waste inputs safely and efficiently.
• Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and procedures.
• Carrying out daily plant checks, including basic maintenance, cleaning and refueling.
• Reporting faults and defects promptly to maintain equipment performance and safety.
• Promoting excellent customer service on site.
• Identifying and managing non-conforming waste.

Hourly Rate – £17.94 per hour

Location & Postcode – Calvert Landfill, HP18 0AF (HP18 0QE)

As a Plant Operator at FCC Environment, you will operate mobile plant to support the safe and efficient acceptance and placement of waste inputs. You will be expected to maximise void utilisation, maintain site equipment in line with company procedures, and deliver a consistently high level of customer service.

This vacancy is for a full-time position, working 5 days per week.

What will you be doing?

• Operating mobile plant to manage waste inputs safely and efficiently
• Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental legislation and company procedures
• Carrying out daily plant checks, including basic maintenance, cleaning and refuelling
• Reporting faults or defects promptly to maintain equipment performance and safety
• Supporting site housekeeping standards, including welfare facilities
• Assisting with plant maintenance activities in line with schedules and manufacturer guidance
• Reporting incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions
• Promoting excellent customer service on site
• Identifying and managing non-conforming waste
