Job summary

GAP Group is seeking a skilled Plant Mechanic to join our Plant & Tool division in the UK. You will service and repair a fleet of diggers, dumpers, and associated equipment both at the depot and on customer sites, keeping gear safe, reliable and ready to hire.

We value hands-on problem solving, a proactive approach and a commitment to high standards of safety. Training and career progression are supported as part of our growing business.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a mechanical role; training provided if coming from outside plant hire.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Customer-focused, reliable team player; full driving licence preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining a wide range of plant and tool equipment within the GAP fleet.
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently to minimise downtime.
• Accurately updating service records and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Occasionally attending customer sites to carry out repairs and maintenance.
• Supporting the depot team to ensure equipment availability and customer satisfaction.
