Job summary

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a safety-critical environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste facility and Materials Recovery Facility, ensuring targets and standards are met.
  • Champion Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality culture; ensure compliance with legislation, permits and management systems.
  • Monitor plant performance, identify opportunities for improvements, and implement efficiency initiatives.
  • Manage site budgets, resources, maintenance activities, and relationships with contractors and regulators.
  • Recruit, develop and lead a high-performing team through coaching and performance management.

Job description

Plant Manager

We are looking for a born leader to work as a Plant Manager at our clients Energy from Waste facility. This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven operational leader to oversee the performance of a complex industrial facility, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations while driving continuous improvement across the site. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills and a passion for delivering operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the safe and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste facility and Materials Recovery Facility, ensuring operational targets and contractual performance standards are consistently achieved.
  • Champion a positive Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality culture, ensuring full compliance with statutory legislation, environmental permits, and company management systems.
  • Monitor plant performance, identify opportunities for operational improvements, and implement initiatives that enhance efficiency, reliability, and overall productivity.
  • Manage site budgets, operational resources, maintenance activities, and relationships with contractors, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high performing team through effective coaching, performance management, and continuous professional development.
Candidate Requirements
  • Extensive operational management experience within power generation, Energy from Waste, or another heavy industrial process environment.
  • Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience, supported by strong technical knowledge of steam boilers, steam turbine generators, and associated plant equipment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality management systems, together with relevant industry legislation.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing performance, and driving continuous improvement within a safety critical environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence positive outcomes across all levels of an organisation.
