Job summary

SCINERGY Recruitment Limited is seeking a Health & Safety Manager for an Energy from Waste site in Glasgow. You will lead safety across the site, implement safe systems of work and ensure compliance with environmental and permitting obligations.

You will collaborate with the Plant Manager, site leadership, central SHEQS team and regulators to uphold a no-compromise safety culture and drive audits, investigations and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing health and safety within a heavy engineering / process environment.
  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
  • Awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and continually improving site safety systems, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Monitoring health, safety and environmental performance in line with legislation and best practice.
  • Supporting environmental compliance, including permit obligations and liaison with regulators.
  • Leading accident, incident and near miss investigations and driving corrective actions.
  • Preparing for internal and external audits relating to ISO, safety and compliance standards.
  • Carrying out site inspections and audits, reviewing risk assessments and H&S documentation.
  • Producing reports and KPIs, partnering with site teams and contractors to drive improvement.

Health & Safety Manager – Energy from Waste

Glasgow, Scotland

The role is responsible for providing safety leadership across the site, managing safe systems of work, monitoring compliance with relevant ISO standards and supporting environmental and permitting obligations. The manager will work closely with the Plant Manager, site leadership team, central SHEQS team and regulatory bodies to maintain a no‑compromise approach to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and continually improving site safety systems, procedures and safe systems of work
  • Monitoring health, safety and environmental performance in line with legislation, company procedures and best practice
  • Supporting environmental compliance, including permit obligations and liaison with regulators
  • Leading accident, incident and near miss investigations, identifying root causes and improvement actions
  • Preparing for internal and external audits relating to ISO, safety and compliance standards
  • Carrying out site inspections and audits, reviewing risk assessments, method statements and H&S documentation
  • Producing reports, monitoring KPIs and working with site teams, contractors and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement
Qualifications
  • Experience managing health and safety within a heavy engineering / process environment (e.g. power station, chemical plant, waste treatment, refinery, water industry)
  • A NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice
  • Awareness of relevant standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 50001
  • Experience using root cause analysis tools to support investigations
  • Strong data management and interpretation skills, including Excel or similar systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy, regulated site environment
