Position Title: Plant Manager
Plant Location: Bath, PA
About the Role:
Keystone Cement Company is seeking a Plant Manager to manage, using functional teams, the operations of quarry production, cement production, and aggregates within the framework of federal, state, and local regulations, and corporate policies and philosophies for safe and compliant plant operations. Ensure production of quality saleable product in a timely manner, while achieving budgeted unit cost and profit for the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee effective management of safety in all areas of responsibility. Exhibit knowledge of and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Independently identify and initiate correction of safety hazards. Ensure that regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training are being completed as required under MSHA. Participate in area inspections and accident investigations as needed. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.
- Manage quarry, hazardous waste, quality, production, warehousing, shipping and receiving, maintenance, training, scheduling, budgeting, continuous improvement, and other plant functions through appropriate leaders. Conduct meetings and build team camaraderie.
- Confer with senior management, corporate employees, subordinates, and other plant personnel on the application of methods and production standards, quality, employee issues and morale, and adherence to safety and compliance protocols.
- Participate in the long-range plant expansion, capital requests, and budgeting process, cost control measures, conversion and equipment planning to ensure short- and long-term production scheduling meet strategic plans and corresponds with sales forecasts. Review recommendations for special machinery or purchases and work closely with product and process research and development. Analyze plant costs and explore methods to improve productivity in a cost-effective manner.
- Determine plant policies consistent with the organizations policies and direct and manage the implementation and application of such policies in all areas of responsibility.
- Participate in the collective bargaining negotiations, grievances, and union related activities. Build and maintain a respectable relationship with employees and Union representatives.
- Determine and support employee training and development in addition to morale enhancing programs.
- Receive, review and approve (when appropriate) recommendations of subordinates in matters of personnel, compliance, production, discipline, wages, etc. Affect job performance through motivation, goals, reviews and providing regular feedback as well as ensuring direct reports are following through with review and feedback of their team.
- Provide technical support recommendations and guidance to subordinates.
- Prepare reports and presentations as required by corporate and to ensure team alignment. Actively participate in meetings sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Represent the organization in the community and promotes the company’s goodwill in community activities. Actively participate in Community Advisory Panel meetings.
Requirements:
- Four-year degree in business management, science, or engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of plant experience at a senior management level.
- Effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and delegation abilities.
- Able to successfully interact in a team environment.
- Have an understanding of, and commitment to, the highest standards for industrial workplace safety, environmental compliance, dependability, and professional workmanship.
- Familiar with MSHA regulations.
- Fundamental understanding of cement chemistry, physical testing, and concrete performance.
- Physically able to inspect plant properties climbing steps, ladders, physical exertion
- Able to wear MSHA personal protective equipment required.
- Respirator use, as needed.
