Job summary

Blackwell Earthmoving Limited is seeking a Plant Inspector to ensure plant and equipment meet HS2 specifications. You will perform inspections, routine checks, and basic maintenance, reporting to the Plant Manager and supporting the plant and labour function to uphold safety and reliability.

You will carry out PDIs on earthworks plant and site vehicles, manage fluid stocks, and assist OEM staff with basic repairs. Relevant CSCS cards and driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• CSCS Green Card is required.
• Full driving licence is essential.
• CSCS Blue Skilled Worker Card required.
• Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Basic computer literacy is expected.
• Ability to write risk assessments and follow safe systems of work.
• Welding experience or qualification is preferred.
• Detailed knowledge of Caterpillar, Volvo and Bomag equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out PDI inspections on earthworks plant, including on/off-hire records and photographs.
• Inspecting 4x4s, minibuses and other site vehicles.
• Applying plant identification stickers where required.
• Checking safety equipment such as beacons, cameras and alarms.
• Checking lubricants and fluid levels; greasing and maintenance tasks.
• Completing weekly tyre and wear checks; reporting issues.
• Producing risk assessments and safe systems of work for activities.
• Managing stock of fluids and COSHH storage areas.
• Assisting with locating machines and basic repairs with OEM staff.
• Replacing GET and cutting edges; issuing Maintenance Permits to Work.
