Job summary

Fortel Group is seeking an experienced plant inspection technician to conduct inspections on plant equipment and lifting gear, ensuring compliance with PUWER, LOLER and HASAW 1974 across sites. You will document findings and report in accordance with PUWER-Loler processes and maintain accurate records.

The role requires NVQ level 2 or above in Plant Maintenance or Operations, CSCS card, IOSH, IT literacy, and the ability to work as part of a team.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or above in Plant Maintenance or Plant Operations.
• NVQ Level 3 or above in Maintenance/Engineering preferred.
• IPAF CAP card preferred.
• IOSH certification.
• LEEA Advanced Diplomas for lifting equipment inspection.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections of plant equipment and lifting accessories under PUWER and LOLER.
• Provide support to maintenance and delivery teams.
• Ensure records are accurately recorded and reported promptly.
• Ensure no equipment misses statutory inspection timelines.
• Report defects to relevant personnel immediately.
• Submit inspection reports to the maintenance team within seven days.

Job description

To provide inspection services across a range of plant equipment and accessories. Document accordingly and report on findings adhering to CWA processes. To ensure that site plant remains compliant under the PUWER, LOLER and HASAW 1974. Reporting to:

Qualifications/experience:

• NVQ Level 2 or above Plant Maintenance (equivalent qualifications maybe accepted).
• NVQ Level 2 or above Plant Operations – Cranes and Specialist Lifting (equivalent qualifications maybe accepted).
• Maintenance or engineering qualifications NVQ level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent is preferred but not essential (again we will consider applicants that do not hold the essential qualifications but have significant experience in the field).
• CITB Plant Inspection - Test & inspection or maintenance experience of general plant equipment & MEWPS is preferred but not essential (this includes forklifts, telehandlers, excavators and MEWP categories IPAF 3a & 3b).
• IPAF CAP card is preferred but not essential.
• IOSH
• LEEA Advanced Diplomas (LEG/LMM/LMP/OTC/RCS) - Test & inspection experience on lifting accessories/equipment is essential (can consider applicants that do not hold the essential qualifications but have experience in the field).

If MEWPS are to be included:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in relevant discipline (MEWP maintenance and LOLER inspection).
• NVQ Level 3 or above (equivalent qualifications maybe accepted).
• IPAF 3a & 3b operator’s licence (training will be provided).
• IPAF Competent Accessed Persons (CAP card).

Key Responsibilities:

• To carry out inspections Accessories and Plant equipment under both PUWER and LOLER regulations.
• Provide support and advice to the maintenance and delivery teams.
• To ensure all records are accurately recorded and reported in a timely manner.
• To ensure no equipment expires its statutory inspection time on site
• All discovered defects are recorded and reported immediately to the relevant persons
• All reports of inspections are passed to the maintenance team within a period not exceeding seven days.
