Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment is seeking a proven HGV/Plant Fitter to join our client’s Middlesbrough operation. You will service, maintain and repair a range of HGVs, vehicles and heavy plant, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to strict manufacturer specifications.

You will hold a strong mechanical background, hold a Full UK Driving Licence and contribute to a safe, compliant fleet. A competitive package including overtime and a company vehicle is on offer.

Qualifications

• Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs, plant, or similar heavy equipment.
• Full UK Driving Licence required.
• Strong mechanical background and diagnostics ability.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections, maintenance and repairs across HGVs, vehicles and plant equipment.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs to manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain and repair a range of heavy plant and fleet equipment.
• Complete quality checks to ensure equipment meets required standards.
• Ensure maintenance aligns with manufacturers’ specifications.
• Keep plant, vehicles and equipment in good working order.
• Report faults and issues promptly while following safety procedures.

Are you an experienced HGV or Plant Fitter with a strong mechanical background, looking for a hands‑on role where you can utilise your skills across a range of vehicles and heavy plant?

Do you have experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing HGVs, plant, or similar heavy equipment, and want to join an established business offering a stable, long‑term position?

This established business specialises in the operation and maintenance of HGVs, vehicles, and plant equipment. Due to continued requirements within their fleet, they are looking to add an experienced HGV & Plant Fitter to their team based in Middlesbrough.

In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out scheduled servicing, inspections, maintenance, and repairs across a range of HGVs, vehicles, and plant equipment. You will diagnose faults, complete repairs to manufacturer specifications, and ensure all equipment is maintained to a high standard.

The Role:

• Carry out scheduled service inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults across HGVs, vehicles, and plant equipment
• Maintain and repair a range of heavy plant and fleet equipment
• Complete quality checks on finished work to ensure equipment meets required standards
• Ensure all maintenance is carried out in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications
• Maintain plant, vehicles, and equipment in good working order
• Report faults and issues promptly
• Ensure all work is completed in line with company Health & Safety and Environmental procedures

The Person:

• HGV Fitter, Plant Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Technician, or similar background
• Strong mechanical maintenance and repair experience
• Full UK Driving Licence
