Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join a specialist engineering company involved in servicing, repairs, upgrades and maintenance on Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs) and rail plant equipment.

The role is primarily workshop-based with regular overtime and long-term career prospects, offering a structured path within a close-knit engineering team.

Qualificações

• Previous experience as Plant Fitter/Heavy Rail Plant Engineer
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding
• Electrical experience is advantageous
• Experience on RRVs, excavators or rail equipment
• Able to read hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Experience using diagnostic equipment
• Welding/fabrication experience beneficial but not essential
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ideally 10+ years in heavy plant/rail sector

Responsabilidades

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on RRVs and rail plant
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic and electrical faults
• Complete major overhauls and upgrade projects
• Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Use diagnostic equipment for fault finding
• Collaborate with welders, machinists and engineers on refurbishment
• Complete inspections and ensure safety standards
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Work primarily in the workshop with occasional site visits
• Ensure all work is completed safely to a high standard

Our client is a specialist engineering company providing servicing, repairs, upgrades and maintenance on rail plant and Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs). Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Plant Fitter to join their close-knit workshop team, working on a wide variety of rail infrastructure equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking for a stable, workshop-based role with regular overtime available and long-term career prospects.

Overview

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs) and rail plant equipment
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic and electrical faults
• Complete major overhauls, refurbishments and upgrade projects
• Work on safety-critical equipment including RCI (Rated Capacity Indicator) systems
• Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Carry out fault finding using diagnostic equipment where applicable
• Work alongside welders, machinists and electrical engineers on larger refurbishment projects
• Complete inspections and testing to ensure equipment meets required safety standards
• Maintain accurate service and repair records
• Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard
• Occasional site work may be required, although the role is primarily workshop-based

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Plant Fitter, Heavy Plant Engineer, Rail Plant Engineer or similar
• Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding experience
• Electrical experience would be highly advantageous
• Experience working on excavators, RRVs, construction plant or specialist rail equipment
• Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics
• Experience using diagnostic equipment
• Welding or fabrication experience would be beneficial but not essential
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ideally 10+ years' experience within the heavy plant or rail plant industry

Salary & Benefits

• £20.00+ per hour (higher salary available for the right candidate)
• 37.5-hour working week (Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm)
• Regular overtime available paid at time and a half
• Primarily workshop-based role
• Paid travel time for site work where applicable
• Company vehicle available for business travel when required
• 24 days holiday plus bank holidays (3 days reserved for Christmas shutdown)
