Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Plant Field Service Technician to deliver nationwide maintenance and repair for our extensive plant fleet. The role includes responding to breakdowns, completing inspections, and liaising with the site teams to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have proven experience in a similar role, and possess Plant Maintenance Level 3 or equivalent. A clean driving license is essential due to nationwide travel, and flexibility in working hours is required.

• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience maintaining a diverse plant fleet.

Plant Field Service Technician (Nationwide)

Rate: £19.05‑£22.35.

Role Purpose

To provide nationwide field‑based maintenance, repair, and technical support for an extensive plant fleet, ensuring equipment remains safe, compliant, and operational to agreed standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and support to a wide range of plant equipment.
• Respond to breakdowns and planned maintenance across sites nationwide.
• Complete inspections, testing, and documentation in line with company procedures and safety standards.
• Liaise with plant managers, site teams, and suppliers to minimise downtime.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health & safety and statutory requirements.

Experience & Qualifications

• Proven previous experience in a similar plant field service or mobile technician role.
• Competent to Plant Maintenance Level 3 (or equivalent).
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault‑finding skills.
• Experience maintaining a diverse plant fleet (e.g. construction, industrial, or hire equipment).
• Have a working knowledge of basic IT systems and applications.

Requirements

• Clean, full driving licence (essential due to nationwide travel).
• Flexible approach to working hours and travel.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
