Elite Consultancy Network is supporting an established construction equipment and heavy plant business in the North East to recruit an experienced Field Service Engineer. This mobile role covers servicing, breakdowns and diagnostics across the North East, with a focus on heavy plant and construction equipment.

You will work independently in the field, using diagnostic equipment to identify faults and complete repairs, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and customer service.

Job description

I’m currently working with an established construction equipment and heavy plant business who are looking to add an experienced Field Service Engineer to their North East operation.

This is a mobile role supporting customers across the region, carrying out servicing, breakdown repairs, diagnostics and maintenance on a range of heavy plant and construction equipment.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working independently in the field and has strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding experience.

The role will include:

• Carrying out servicing and routine maintenance on heavy plant and construction equipment
• Attending customer breakdowns across the North East
• Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
• Completing repairs efficiently to minimise customer downtime
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and inspections
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify faults
• Repairing and replacing mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components
• Liaising with the Service Controller regarding job progress and additional work
• Identifying parts required for repairs and follow-up visits
• Completing service reports, job sheets and relevant paperwork
• Supporting machine preparation, inspections and handovers where required
• Providing a professional service to customers on site

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience as a Field Service Engineer, Plant Engineer, Plant Fitter, Mobile Plant Fitter or similar
• Experience working on heavy plant, construction equipment or comparable mobile machinery
• Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
• Good knowledge of hydraulics
• Electrical diagnostic and repair experience
• Experience working with diesel engines and associated systems
• Ability to work independently in a mobile service environment
• Full UK driving licence

Experience with excavators, telehandlers, rollers, material handlers, crushing and screening equipment or other construction plant would be particularly relevant.

Experience from agricultural machinery, powered access, material handling, forklifts or HGV/commercial vehicles may also be considered where the technical background is transferable.

Previous experience with manufacturers such as JCB, Caterpillar, Komatsu, Volvo, Hitachi, Liebherr, Develon, Hyundai, Takeuchi, Kubota, Manitou or SANY would be advantageous, but specific manufacturer experience is not essential.

Package:

£19.50 per hour + overtime
