Job summary

Babcock Plymouth Devon site seeks a Plant Engineer to support the safe operation of nuclear facilities, ensuring compliance with stringent safety, engineering, and regulatory requirements. Within the Plant Management Group, you’ll coordinate with production, design and technical teams, maintain design intent, and author safety documentation.

This is a full-time role with hybrid options and a pathway for career development in a highly regulated environment.

Qualifications

The role

As a Plant Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You'll play a vital role in supporting the safe operation of critical nuclear facilities that underpin the UK's defence capabilities. Working within the Plant Management Group, you'll help ensure that nuclear-implicated equipment and services are operated in line with stringent safety, engineering, and regulatory requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career in a highly regulated engineering environment, collaborating with skilled technical professionals and making a meaningful contribution to national security.

Day-to-day, you’ll be required to

• Support facility operations by identifying and managing actions to ensure design intent and safety requirements are maintained.
• Authorizing nuclear safety documentation and maintaining accurate records relating to facility plant and assets.
• Manage the implementation of engineering activities while coordinating with a range of stakeholders across production, design, and technical teams.
• Control master documentation for nuclear safety management arrangements within the facility.
• Investigate, implementing, and supporting improvements and modifications to nuclear facilities and associated assets

This is a full-time, role working 35 hours per week, based at Devonport. Flexible working patterns are available, with a combination of on-site working and up to 1-2 days per week working from home where business needs allow

Essential experience of the Plant Engineer

• Experience supporting engineering operations, maintenance, or modification activities.
• Knowledge of working practices within a high-hazard or highly regulated industry.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience producing technical, scientific, or engineering reports.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications for the Plant Engineer

• Level 4 qualification in a STEM discipline with relevant engineering experience

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
