Job summary

Ellison Institute of Technology in Oxford is seeking a Laboratory Technician - Plant Cell Culture to support plant tissue culture workflows within the Plant Biology Institute. You will initiate and maintain aseptic cultures, collect data, and help with method development in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

The role requires hands-on lab work, strong organisational skills and the ability to work across multiple researcher teams to deliver high-quality results.

Qualifications

• Essential: degree in plant biology, biotechnology or related field and practical lab experience.
• Proven ability to perform aseptic tissue culture and follow SOPs.
• Good numerical and record-keeping skills; teams collaboration required.

Responsibilities

• Support and execute plant tissue and cell culture experiments and workflows led by the Plant Cell Culture Lead.
• Prepare sterile media and consumables; maintain aseptic conditions in cultures.
• Monitor cultures for growth and contamination; document observations and results.
• Maintain accurate culture histories and sample labelling; assist with method development.
• Assist with data collection and basic analysis; support lab safety and housekeeping.
• Collaborate with scientists and automation specialists across the Cell Based Production team.
