Description

As a Planning and Scheduling Team Leader, you will manage a team of Planners and Schedulers responsible for planning, scheduling, dispatching, and organizing work delivered by operational teams. The planning and scheduling function is central to the contract, significantly impacting productivity, customer service, and safety. Demand may fluctuate greatly, especially during peak seasons or adverse weather conditions.

You will lead your team to adapt to workload variations and adopt flexible working arrangements. Leading by example, you will demonstrate strong adherence to quality performance metrics and prioritize customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and resource your team efficiently, including out-of-hours and weekend requirements, ensuring adequate office coverage aligned with field operations.
  • Monitor team performance, focusing on work basket size, resource data accuracy, and maximizing productivity—particularly minimizing travel times and distances.
  • Review planning dependencies such as streetworks notices, permits, and traffic management requirements, ensuring all safety prerequisites are met before dispatching work.
  • Own and resolve in-day planning and scheduling issues that could negatively impact performance.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs for R&M and Leakage services.
  • Manage the office environment with line management responsibility for at least four Planners and Schedulers.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Experience in utilities or related fields preferred.
  • Background in planning or coordination roles.
  • Leadership experience in managing and mentoring teams.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Logical thinking ability.
