Job summary

Lord Search & Selection is seeking a Planning & Scheduling Manager for a West Midlands engineering services client. You will lead planning, scheduling and deployment of a field-based technical workforce, focusing on visibility, utilization and operational efficiency.

You will allocate resources, monitor capacity and demand, produce reports and coordinate resources for projects, planned works and customer shutdowns, driving improved processes and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Highly organized with strong stakeholder management.
• Experience using scheduling/workforce management systems.

The Company

Our client is an established and expanding provider of specialist facilities and technical services, supporting a broad customer base across the UK. With continued investment in its operational capability, the business is now looking to strengthen its planning function through the appointment of an experienced Planning & Scheduling Manager.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you will take responsibility for the effective planning, scheduling and deployment of a field-based technical workforce. The role will focus on improving visibility, utilisation and operational efficiency across multiple service lines, ensuring work is planned and delivered in the most effective and commercially sensible way. This will include:

• Managing the allocation of field-based resources
• Maintaining forward visibility of capacity and demand
• Monitoring utilisation, downtime, travel time and overtime
• Producing operational reports and performance analysis
• Coordinating resources for larger projects, planned works and customer shutdowns
• Helping improve planning processes, systems and ways of working across the business

The Person

You will have experience in planning, scheduling, resource coordination or workforce deployment within a field-based service environment. You should be highly organised and commercially aware, able to manage competing priorities, improve processes and work with stakeholders across a fast-moving operational business. Key requirements include:

• Understanding of technician utilisation, capacity planning and efficient resource deployment
• Ability to use data and reporting to support better decision-making
• Experience of using scheduling, workforce management or resource planning systems
