Job summary

We Manage Jobs (WMJobs) in the West Midlands is seeking a Planning Regeneration Officer on a fixed-term basis for two years to support major regeneration projects within Sandwell. The role sits in the Planning Regeneration Team and will involve collaborating with internal and external partners to deliver outcomes.

You will identify funding sources, prepare development briefs, and support the production of masterplans and viability studies essential for delivering major schemes.

Qualifications

• Educated to Degree Level, preferably in Planning and/or Regeneration.
• Working towards RTPI membership (student/licentiate/full) is expected.
• Chartered RTPI membership is preferable.
• Knowledge of national, regional and local regeneration strategies and local area context.
• Experience in a complex, challenging project environment.
• Knowledge of basic Project Management principles.

This post is fixed term for two years

We are looking to recruit a Planning Regeneration Officer

This post provides the opportunity of working on challenging, but exciting major projects contained within our £3bn Regeneration Pipeline.

You will be working within the Planning Regeneration Team but the multi-disciplinary nature of the regeneration projects will involve working with both internal and external partners to achieve the necessary outcomes.

The role will also require identifying funding sources to drive regeneration projects forward within the borough, preparing development briefs and identifying the necessary supporting studies and assessments necessary to deliver major projects.

Responsibilities:

• Support or lead the development of regeneration schemes which deliver economic, social and environmental benefits for the communities of Sandwell.
• Contributing towards the creation of high quality places which meet the needs of Sandwell's communities
• Contribute towards the production of masterplans and strategies to enable comprehensive regeneration
• Identify and lead the necessary arrangements for viability studies, market assessments, land/property ownership, and valuations to be undertaken to determine scheme viability and development options Identify funding sources and prepare funding applications to enable sites or deliver regeneration schemes, including the collation of relevant supporting information

Requirements:

• Educated to Degree Level, preferably in a subject consistent with Planning and/or Regeneration
• Working towards either student, licentiate or full membership of the RTPI.
• Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute is preferable. (RTPI).
• Knowledge of key national, regional and local strategies which are key drivers for regeneration, including emerging strategies and knowledge of the local area in the context of Regeneration, including the key challenges and opportunities
• Experience of Working within a complex and challenging project environment
• Knowledge of basic Project Management principles.
