Winchester City Council invites applications for a Planning Officer to join the Development Management team and shape the district’s historic city, market towns, rural villages and countryside. You will balance growth with protection of natural, built and historic environments.

You will manage a varied caseload, collaborating with applicants, colleagues, consultees and elected members to deliver sustainable development within tight timescales.

Qualifications

• Degree in Planning or related discipline would be advantageous.
• Previous experience in a planning-related role is welcome.
• Strong organisational skills to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied caseload of planning applications, pre-applications and appeals.
• Provide professional recommendations within challenging timescales.
• Work with applicants, colleagues, consultees, elected members and communities.
• Help deliver sustainable development across the district.
