Job summary

BBF Limited is seeking a Planning & MRP Manager in Blackburn with hybrid working. You will lead the planning and MRP team to deliver an optimal production schedule that meets service targets while minimising waste, labour, warehousing and transport costs.

You will collaborate with capacity, procurement and operations to balance forecasts and create robust production plans, manage 3PL relationships, and drive continuous improvement across the planning function.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in planning or supply chain.
• Strong scheduling and MRP knowledge in FMCG.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Experience with ERP systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and MRP function across Blackburn & Shadsworth.
• Produce and communicate a 3-month capacity plan to meet service and cost targets.
• Manage stock and deliveries to 3PLs and internal sites.
• Maintain inventory levels to minimise waste and maximise cash flow.
• Collaborate with procurement to reduce stock holdings.
• Convert forecasts into achievable production schedules balancing cost, service and labour.
• Maintain planning and MRP systems and drive continuous improvement.
• Provide ongoing communication across the business and manage plan risks.

Planning & MRP Manager

Working alongside the operational and site teams to lead the planning and MRP team in Blackburn & Shadsworth, to identify / implement and deliver an optimum production schedule that delivers operational cost and service targets in line with customer and business needs while minimising labour, waste, warehousing and transport costs.

The role of Planning & MRP Manager:

• Working closely with the capacity manager, produce and communicate a 3-month capacity plan that delivers on service and operational cost targets whilst minimising waste.
• Manage all stock and deliveries to all 3PL’s ensuring stock records are accurate and collaboratively work with all 3PL’s to ensure service and waste targets are met.
• Manage stock holdings of both finished goods and raw materials to within company agreed levels and storage limitations whilst minimising waste.
• Collaboratively working with procurement to reduce stock holdings and improve cash flow.
• Working collaboratively with all departments to avoid material & packaging stock outs / issues. Escalation where required.
• Utilise available systems to convert sales forecasts into achievable production schedules that optimally balance service/ operational cost efficiency / labour / reduce waste and stay within 3PL and site capacities.
• Maintain both the planning and MRP systems ensuring accurate set up.
• Drive continuous improvement in planning & MRP
• Champion ongoing communication with all levels and areas of the business to ensure accurate and up to date information is provided.
• Working collaboratively with operations and all areas of the business manage risks within the plan communicating where required.
• Review, audit, and report on performance against plan, identifying risks, and identifying root causes for variances / over stocks and service failures.
• Ensure accuracy of all site stocks of materials and packaging and stocks are held within site capacity limits
• Identification & publication of Raw Materials and Packaging at risk to ensure financial provisions are put into place.
• Manage health & safety with the teams.
• Provide ongoing training/ coaching to create high performing supply planning teams.
• Manage holidays and cover for absence.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Previous leadership experience
• Previous scheduling & MRP experience
• Excellent communication.
• Experience in a FMCG environment.
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office inc. Excel.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Self-motivated – good team builder and able to work as part of a team.
• Methodical & organised.
• Ability to mentor and coach teams
